Pal — Support
Pal learns your individual palate from the meals you log and rate, and uses it to recommend restaurants and specific dishes.
Pal is in closed beta, distributed through Apple TestFlight to testers in the United States.
Who we are
Pal is made by Kayacan Kaya and Jordan Wong, jointly. There is no company behind Pal — it is not incorporated.
2106 Lockwood Ave, Fremont, CA, United States.
Contact us
Write to us about anything: a bug, a wrong recommendation, a restaurant or dish that is listed incorrectly, a question about your data, or a request to delete your account. It is read by a person, not a ticket queue.
It helps — but is not required — to include what you were doing when the problem happened, and the build details from Me → Settings → This build (there is a Copy button there that puts all six fields on your clipboard).
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app. You do not need to write to us first, and you do not need to ask anyone's permission.
- Open the Me tab.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete account.
- Read what it lists, type
DELETEto confirm, and tap Delete account.
This removes your meals, your photos, your taste fingerprint, your saves and your notes. It is a deletion, not a deactivation — none of it is recoverable, and signing in again starts a brand-new account.
If the deletion fails, the app says so plainly rather than reporting a success it did not have — and what it says depends on where it failed. There are two outcomes:
- The database step failed. Nothing is removed. It is undone as a whole, your account is intact, and you can try again.
- The database step succeeded and a photo would not delete. Your account and its rows are gone and will not come back, but one or more of your uploaded files survived in storage. The app says exactly that — your account and all of its data were deleted, some photos could not be removed — rather than showing a clean success. Which files they were is recorded on our side. Write to us and we will remove them by hand.
The order is deliberate: photos are deleted after the database, because the other order would destroy your photos and then leave your account intact if the database step failed.
If you cannot reach the screen at all, write to jwong@thepal.app from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
If you used Pal without signing in, your data is stored against a random identifier your device generates. We cannot delete that on request, because we cannot verify that it is yours. Deleting the app removes your device's copy.
